How to make savings across your heat network: Part 2

03 March / 14.15 - 15.10

In this session we will hear from 3 UKDEA Members who specialise in reducing cost and improving efficiency in heat networks. Whether it be the design and planning of a scheme, the transfer of heat or even the selection of the heat source itself, these Members specialise in helping you save money from design to completion.

Chair: Tom Woodward, Association Secretary, UKDEA

Micronics: Bulk Metering Is Not Scary

My presentation is about the bulk/entry point metering of district and communal heating systems. I want to look at where we should be putting meters to be in line with the district heating regulation but also look at where adding additional meters to the system can provide added benefit to understanding the energy profile of the system. I also want to look at the data that we can take from this metering and how it can start to indicate where system improvements need to be implemented.

James Charlton – National Accounts & Business Development Manager

Armstrong: Modern Methods of Construction for Rapid, Low-Risk Deployment in District Heating

The long-standing preference in the mechanical construction industry is to purchase loose components and assemble an HVAC system or its sub-system on site. However, for certain types of installations a factory-built packaged solution adds a great deal of value and saves time. District Energy has the perfect synergy when considering the build out of a heat network with a modular approach to an energy centre design and installation, this approach combined with Armstrong’s embedded technology pays dividends across the lifecycle of a ESCOs involvement. Join this session to learn how packaged systems built in a factory environment can transform construction site activity, reduce site labour and costs, reduce schedule time and create long-term value for ESCOs and contractors.

Matthew Blackmore, National Specification Manager for District Energy, Armstrong Fluid Technology

CPV: Heat Networks – Gaining Advantages with Off-Site Fabrication Techniques and Materials

CPV is UK’s longest-serving manufacturer of pre-insulated pipe systems for heating and cooling networks. Drawing on over forty years’ experience in heat networks, the company has developed industry-leading off-site fabrication techniques that are enabling heat network developers and installers to reduce time on site, improve quality and gain performance advantages. In his presentation, Chris Sykes will give an insight into this approach and explore how hybrid systems can be created that utilise advanced composites.
