Fraudulent cladding-safety certificates sent to almost 100 suburban Prescot residents
Almost 100 residents in high-rise flats received ‘forged’ cladding safety forms certifying that their building was not a fire hazard.
Thomas Michael Clarke, 33, is charged with fraud by false representation after 19 months of investigation by police.
Forms for assessing the safety of buildings’ exterior cladding (EWS1) were introduced following the Grenfell fire disaster, so that lenders could approve loans. Checks must be completed by an appropriate professional before these forms can be issued.
