The Canadian-based Boltzmann Institute has recognised the LeedsPIPES heat network as an international exemplar of a city-wide heating solution. The heat network, providing homes, businesses and public buildings with low carbon heating harnessed from a nearby Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility, was responsible for nearly 6,000 tonnes of carbon reduction in 2023 alone. The project went ahead with help from HNIP in Round 6.
