Futurebuild’s Materials Impact Stage Driving Low-Carbon and Circular Innovation

The focus of Futurebuild 2025 is on making an ‘Imapct’ – taking decisive action today to transform the materials we build with. The Materials Impact Stage explores how circularity, decarbonisation, and transparency can drive real progress in sustainable construction.

Sponsored by Aggregate Industries, and curated in partnership with leading organisations such as MPA The Concrete Centre, Built by Nature, ASBP, UKGBC, and 540World, this stage will cover the latest innovations in low-carbon concrete, bio-based materials, and circular design.

Highlights include:

  • Decarbonising UK Concrete & Cement – with Elaine Toogood (MPA The Concrete Centre) and Diana Casey (MPA Cement and Lime)
  • Fire-Safe Mass Timber for the UK – featuring Joe Giddings (Built by Nature) and Mario Ledermann (Halliwell)
  • Healthy then Circular Materials – a two-part session led by Chaline Church (540World) and Ren DeCherney (Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute)
  • Timber in Construction Roadmap: Progress & Insights – with Andrew Carpenter (Structural Timber Association) and David Hopkins (Timber Development UK)
  • Towards a Nature-Positive Built Environment – featuring Aaron Grainger (Buro Happold) and Dr. Julia Baker (Mott MacDonald)
