Futurebuild’s Placemaking Stage: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Communities

The focus of Futurebuild 2025 is on ‘Impact’ – taking action today to shape the sustainable places of tomorrow. On the Placemaking Impact Stage, we will be exploring how urban design, green infrastructure, and smart planning can create resilient, nature-rich communities.

Sponsored by Hahn Plastics, and curated in partnership with leading organisations such as CIWEM, CIRIA, the Landscape Institute, Gro, and Sustrans, the Placemaking Stage will highlight the latest innovations in biodiversity, blue-green infrastructure, and sustainable mobility.

Highlights include:

  • Water Resilient Places: Spongy & Smart – with Paul Shaffer (CIWEM) and George Warren (Anglian Water)
  • Building Nature-Rich Places – featuring Carolin Göhler (Landscape Institute) and Ian Houlston (LDA Design)
  • Integrating Nature-Based Solutions with Smart Cities – with Blanche Cameron (UCL) and Matthew Hoddinott (Olyi Ltd)
  • Masterclass: Increasing Active Travel in New Developments – led by Ben Addy & Rachel Toms (Sustrans)
