In May 2018 the government released the results of the investigation into the Grenfell Tower fire in a report, authored by Dame Judith Hackitt “Building a safer future: proposals for reform of the building safety regulatory system”. Setting out more than 50 recommendations as to how to deliver a more robust regulatory system.
Many of the recommendations had a significant effect on the design, construction, management, and occupation of a building from the planning stage and throughout its life cycle.
One key proposal was that the government should develop and agree with the construction industry a standardised format for digital information management, and as a result, the Golden Thread was born!
Ever since there has been a lot of discussion around what is the ‘golden thread of information’ and what does it mean. In this Game Changers Live virtual event, we explore now only the what and the why, but how the golden thread is being implemented to help us as an industry build safer, better, and smarter.
