Gundry + Ducker win competition to design RIBA stand at Futurebuild 2019
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) are pleased to announce that Gundry + Ducker have been selected to design the RIBA stand at Futurebuild 2019, sponsored by ROCKWOOL and Rockpanel.
Futurebuild 2019 is the event that brings together opinion-shapers, decision-makers and product innovators from across the built environment to explore the latest technologies and approaches and debate the biggest issues – both in the UK and overseas. It will take place from 05 - 07 March 2019 at ExCeL London. The RIBA stand will help to attract visitors, promote our members and the profession while adding an exciting architectural element to the show.
The open call asked RIBA Chartered Members and Practices to submit expressions of interest demonstrating their previous relevant experience to the RIBA Stand project and their motivation for applying. The panel were impressed by the variety of the submissions with practices of varying scale and experience submitting entries.
Gundry + Ducker will now work with the RIBA, ROCKWOOL and Rockpanel to design an exciting and dynamic stand for Futurebuild 2019.
Jan-Carlos Kucharek, Senior Editor, RIBA Journal and Editor, Products in Practice said ‘The Gundry and Ducker submission stood out from the very start, with a number of small, economical but bold projects that allowed us to select them with confidence. They combined a strong spatial sense with materials and forms that were considered and witty. If they can think in section as well as plan, I am looking forward to RIBA’s Futurebuild ‘pavilion’ being the standout one of the 2019 show- as it should be.’
“ROCKWOOL are delighted to once again be working with the RIBA on their showpiece stand at Futurebuild,“ says Stephanie Bolton, Head of Marketing Communications at ROCKWOOL. “We were very impressed with the quality and range of the design submissions received from RIBA Chartered Members and Practices. Gundry + Ducker stood out from the competition for their creativity, their understanding of the space and the imaginative yet practical ways they propose to build the stand. We can’t wait to see how this design is realised at Futurebuild in what we’re sure will be one of the principal talking points of the show.”
Futurebuild Managing Director, Martin Hurn, added: “We are excited to see the vision for the RIBA stand designed by Gundry + Ducker brought to life. It is integral to Futurebuild and a real focal point for architects and specifiers visiting the event. Our partnership with RIBA is one which continues to grow and prosper and to be able to offer this opportunity is fantastic.”
