Unlocking Circularity with the design process
This session will focus on supporting architects to embed circularity within the design process, while identifying and unlocking common barriers across both design and delivery teams. Through discussion and practical insights, the session will explore how circular economy principles can be effectively translated from early design stages through to construction and handover.
The session will be chaired by Gilles Alvarenga, international architect and Associate Sustainability Consultant at Cundall, and Whole Life Carbon (WLC) and Circular Economy (CE) Workstream Lead. Gilles will be supported by Kim Gault and Alejandro Mar Morales.
The session will bring together perspectives from across the industry, including:
- A demolition and principal contractors
- Representatives from secondary materials marketplaces
- A professional from an insurance background
Together, the panel will address practical, contractual, and risk‑related challenges, and explore opportunities to unlock circularity within the built environment.
This session is aimed at architects and circular economy practitioners and enthusiasts who are keen to advance circular design and delivery in the built environment.
