A practical, interactive presentation with Q&A exploring how the regeneration and sensitive retrofit of historic and traditional buildings including those in conservation areas can deliver wide‑ranging economic, social and environmental benefits. The session will highlight how upgrading older buildings can improve energy efficiency, strengthen climate resilience, and support thriving local places.

Participants will look at ways to understand a building’s fabric, heritage significance and current performance, and how this knowledge informs the assessment of suitable retrofit options. The session will also cover how to identify and mitigate risks, navigate planning and conservation requirements, and make well‑informed decisions that protect heritage value while unlocking the contribution these buildings can make to a greener future.
Featuring expert input from Hannah Reynolds, Historic England.
