The role of retrofit in a regenerative future - curated by NRH and STBA

14 May 2026
Buildings and Materials Stage

Retrofit has a critical role to play in moving beyond “doing less harm” towards a genuinely regenerative built environment, one that restores ecosystems, supports human health, and strengthens communities. This panel brings together leading voices from across retrofit practice, policy, standards, health, and heritage to explore how retrofit can deliver environmental, social, and health co-benefits at scale. Drawing on real-world experience and emerging evidence, the discussion will examine how whole-building, place-based, and outcomes-led approaches can unlock better results for people, planet, and historic places.
