Game Changers LIVE – Low Carbon Concrete edition with headline partner The Concrete Centre and in partnership with Concrete Futures, took take place on Thursday 22 April 2021.

Chaired by Claire Ackerman, The Concrete Centre, this online event explored how carbon can be saved now by using low carbon concretes and designing low carbon concrete structures. Claire leads The Concrete Centre, who provide published guidance for the design and use of concrete in our built environment, as part of the Mineral Products Association (MPA).
Claire is co-lead of the MPA UK Concrete Sustainable Construction Group that is responsible for the Concrete Industry Sustainable Construction Strategy and is a member of a Global Cement and Concrete Association outreach working group. Claire is also an active member of the Green Construction Board Low Carbon Concrete Group.

Using new cement types in sustainable concrete


Reducing the carbon emissions associated with concrete is now of critical importance throughout the construction supply chain. Dr Nina Cardinal, Senior Technical Manager, Hanson presented how the use of new types of cement can produce sustainable, low carbon concrete.
