Futurebuild 2026 officially opens and today turns 21

Futurebuild 2026 (12-14 May at Excel, London) opened its doors this morning marking the show’s coming of age with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony.

Turning 21 this year, the moment was symbolic of how far the built environment has shifted towards a more analytical approach with Barbour ABI’s Senior Marketing Executive, Ellie Rourke, joining Event Director, Martin Hurn to welcome visitors.

“Opening alongside Ellie was a conscious move to reflect Futurebuild’s championing of the next generation of leaders,” says Martin Hurn. “The collaboration with Barbour ABI is also especially fitting as it highlights construction’s maturing use of technology to connect supply-chains, optimise resources and stay on top of new and emerging trends.”

Other first day highlights include:

  • Martin McCluskey MP, the UK’s Minister for Energy Consumers, delivering a keynote address at 1pm in the National Retrofit Conference
  • RIBA President Chris Williams chairing a panel discussion on ‘reuse in practice’ in the main arena
  • Seminar sessions on Passivhaus, a new regenerative framework for the built environment and delivering on the Futures Homes standard

New this year, Futurebuild’s co-location with UK Construction Week London and the Stone & Surfaces Show means visitors can enter all three shows for free. Registering for a pass provides access to over 700 speakers, across 13 stages and more than 250 hours of accredited CPD Content.
