Madi Sharma is a business development manager with Crawford & Co Surveyors Ltd, a multidisciplinary, RICS-regulated building surveying and retrofit specialist supporting clients across local authority, social housing, landlord, commercial and domestic property sectors.
With a career spanning enterprise, policy, retrofit and social impact, Madi brings a rare combination of commercial insight, public policy experience and practical delivery focus. She spent 22 years representing UK business within a Brussels institution, contributing to policy development while also running her own businesses. During this time, she was appointed to the EU Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry Advisory Board, where she championed entrepreneurship and the role of SMEs in economic growth.
Madi has also served on UK Government task forces focused on SMEs, skills and women in business, reflecting her long-standing commitment to improving opportunity, representation and access within the business community. She is a strong advocate for SMEs and women in business, with a particular passion for ensuring that smaller organisations are recognised as vital contributors to innovation, employment and local economic resilience.
In her current role, Madi supports the growth of compliant, high-quality retrofit and property services, including building surveys, energy performance assessments, retrofit coordination and design, compliance surveys and related services. Her work is closely aligned with the opportunities emerging across the retrofit sector, particularly where quality, assurance and resident-focused delivery are essential.
Alongside her professional work, Madi continues to champion apprenticeships and social value, recognising their importance in creating long-term skills, meaningful employment and stronger communities. Her perspective connects policy, people and practical delivery, making her a compelling voice on retrofit, SME growth, women in business, skills and the wider social value of the built environment sector.
