Ben Richardson leads Buro Happold’s Sustainability and Physics Team in London, bringing two decades of experience in delivering forward thinking, environmentally responsible design. Specialising in residential façade performance across both large scale developments and smaller bespoke projects, Ben combines deep technical expertise with a commitment to creating healthier, low energy homes.
Throughout his career, Ben has played a central role in shaping sustainable design strategies within the residential sector. Most recently, he and his team have developed an innovative façade design tool that integrates daylight, overheating, and energy modelling to support clients in navigating increasingly complex performance requirements. His approach blends analytical rigour with practical creativity, ensuring that sustainable design outcomes are both robust and achievable.
Ben’s passion for innovation extends beyond his professional work. He has applied many of the principles and ideas developed through his façade research in his own home, demonstrating a hands on commitment to testing and proving sustainable solutions in real world contexts.
