Chris Taylor-Hamlin is a Senior Environment Research Manager at Daikin, leading research and industry engagement on the transition to low‑carbon heating and cooling.

Chris works across industry, academia and government to accelerate the deployment of high‑efficiency heat pump technologies and support the UK’s net‑zero ambitions.

In his role, Chris oversees research programmes that evaluate emerging technologies, real‑world performance, and policy impacts, ensuring evidence‑based decision‑making that supports both manufacturers and policymakers. He represents Daikin in several UK and European technical and policy forums, contributing expertise on heat pumps, refrigerants, building decarbonisation, and systems integration.

Chris also serves as Chair of the Sustainable Energy Association (SEA) Smart Energy Working Group, where he plays a key role in tracking new policy and regulations for energy smart appliances and championing the scaling of deployment of customer lead flexibility across domestic applications.

Recognised for his collaborative approach and clear communication of technical topics, Chris regularly contributes to conferences, working groups and advisory boards focused on the energy transition. His work is driven by the belief that technology, policy, and skills must move together to deliver a resilient, low‑carbon built environment.
