An AEC industry professional for 18 years, I started as a CAD Technician and have evolved into the role I have now. My first truly BIM-enabled project began in 2008 and since then I have been both enthused and interested to understand more in order to maximise the enormous potential we have on offer.
Coming from a design background has given me a differing perspective to most and allowed me to realise both sides of the project delivery spectrum and this has undoubtedly led me to be more pragmatic and systematic in how I approach strategy implementation and targeting value. For me, seeing the development and nurturing of our younger colleagues is equally as rewarding as the moment you see that point of value realisation within older, more tailored practitioners.
My passion to this day remains to bring a blended, yet integrated, technological and innovative change into my place of work and to drive the shift to a digital way of working. Our SRM Digital strategy defines clear and concise milestone targets and we have tangible evidence from over the last 2 years of how our strategy has benefited the 50+ projects it has overarched. This is enormously encouraging especially since we are still only at the beginning of our journey.
For all of us the future is unknown, but I firmly believe it is this which makes the journey we have embarked upon all the more exciting…
