Ele George
Ele George is a civil and environmental engineer and founding director of Elevate, working across sustainable materials, industrialised construction, and systems-led design in the built environment. With over 25 years’ experience across consultancy, main contracting, housing, manufacturing, and development, her work focuses on how materials, construction methods, and design decisions can support low-carbon delivery, circularity, and long-term flexibility.
A Churchill Fellow, Ele is undertaking research into the role of industrialised construction in enabling custom build as a scalable delivery model. Her work investigates the technical and systemic enablers used in Sweden and Germany, and how these approaches can inform UK practice for both new build and retrofit.
Ele has designed and delivered low-carbon buildings, including her own home, and regularly convenes with industry, policymakers, and practitioners to explore barriers to innovation in materials, skills, and delivery models. She is a frequent speaker and writer on sustainable construction, MMC, retrofit, and systems change in the built environment.
