Ha Phan
Dr. Ha Phan is a researcher and engineer with nine years dedicated to the sustainable transformation of biomass into high-value products and expertise in carbon materials. Holding a BEng (Honours) and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Newcastle University, his research focuses on sustainable science and engineering innovation. His published work covers the thermochemical conversion of waste, pioneering cellulose aerogel polymers from agricultural waste, and applying biomass-derived carbon in vanadium redox flow batteries, plastic conversion, and CO2 capture.
Beyond research, he secured seed funding for a WASH programme data assessment project in Kenya via Frontiers Symposium of Royal Academy of Engineering and leading a project via the Henry Royce Industrial Collaboration Programme. Most recently, he contributed to the success of the Innovate UK Smart Grants project for WHEATEX®—an innovative, high-performance, and sustainable thermal and acoustic insulation material made from natural agricultural straw fibre.
