With a background in agriculture and international development, John initially founded the company when experimenting with new uses for sisal fibre, a drought-resistant fibre crop grown in east Africa. As Sisalwool evolved John spent several years blending sisal with a wide range of other natural fibres, both virgin and recycled, to develop the optimum blend, density and form of low carbon insulation.
