Macarena Cárdenas

Senior Advisor for Resilience and Nature , UK Green Building Council

Macarena Cárdenas is a multidisciplinary Senior Advisor on climate resilience and nature-positive built environment at the UK Green Building Council. She works with industry stakeholders to align climate and nature, and translate insights into action at the project and organisational levels.

She led the development and launch of the UKGBC Framework for Nature Positive Development, enabling the sector to translate commitments into practical, measurable action across the asset lifecycle.
Macarena also led the UK Climate Resilience Roadmap, focusing on how resilience and adaptation are embedded into organisations and projects, with nature as critical infrastructure. Her work brings a systems perspective, advancing collaboration, metrics and approaches that move the built environment beyond compliance towards regenerative, nature-aligned outcomes.
