With 36 years of experience in the flat roofing industry, working with market‑leading roof system manufacturers, Nigel has developed a unique understanding of both the UK and European markets. His long-standing involvement in key national and European technical committees for flat roofing has provided him with a comprehensive perspective on current standards and their evolution.
In recent years, Nigel has been at the forefront of developing guidance on fire performance in roofing. He is an active member of the Factory Mutual Advisory Council for Europe and participates in the TC127 WG5 (Fire on Roofs) committee along with its UK mirror group, FSH/22/-/8.
Nigel also contributes to a range of other flat‑roof‑related technical bodies, including various CEN TC254 Technical Committees in Europe and the UK BSI mirror committee B/546. He is involved with the NFRC Joint Flat Roofing Technical Committees and the Roof Suppliers Group. He has been the long-standing Chair of the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) Technical Committee and is a regular contributor to the Liquid Roofing & Waterproofing Association (LRWA) Technical Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Technical Committee for the newly formed Bitumen Flat Roofing Association (BFRA) and is the Past President of the Insulation Manufacturers Association (IMA).
More recently, Nigel has served as Bauder’s Code Lead and an industry advocate for the CCPI. Under his leadership, Bauder became one of the first companies to achieve system sets for its roof waterproofing solutions.
