Peter has spent the majority of his 30 year professional career as an ecologist and natural environment policy maker in London.
Peter leads on green infrastructure and natural environment for the Greater London Authority. His work is to make the natural environment more relevant in London, by ensuring its many benefits are recognised as being an essential part of a liveable, resilient city.
He started his career with the London Wildlife Trust and the London Ecology Unit, managing nature reserves and providing ecological advice to London boroughs. He subsequently worked for Natural England where he had responsibility for the agency’s strategy for the London region. He initiated and help formulate the All London Green Grid and the policies that helped foster interest in green roofs and other forms of urban greening – a policy framework now firmly embedded within the London Environment Strategy and the London Plan.
