Sally Fenton is the Head of Smart Energy and Built Environment Innovation in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, leading national and international programmes which promote innovation in smart energy systems and the built environment, including vehicle-to-grid, energy storage, system flexibility, energy efficiency and low carbon heating. Before working on energy innovation, Sally held a number of technical and policy posts in central government in the UK, working on policy areas including: science in government; nuclear decommissioning; telecommunications regulation and aviation policy. Sally’s technical background is in radiocommunications engineering.
