Sophie has long been passionate about sustainable and climate conscious design, consistently aligning her academic and professional work with these values. After completing her master’s degree at the University of Bath in the summer of 2025, she joined Studio Partington to continue her development and complete her professional qualification.

Inspired by the practice’s focus on regenerative design and heritage retrofit, she became actively involved in ACAN’s student led branch, StuCAN. In 2025, she worked with eleven volunteers to curate the StuCAN Entanglement Festival, bringing together over 120 students in Glasgow for a weekend of hands on, creative exploration of sustainable and nature-based design through talks, workshops and discussions.

Building on this, Sophie was keen to expand her involvement with ACAN and share her passion more widely. She took the opportunity to co-lead a workshop at FutureBuild, using it as a platform to engage others in conversations about the future of the construction industry and the role of sustainable design within it. She looks forward to the FutureBuild conference, engaging with others across the industry, and contributing to conversations around a more responsible built environment.
