Stephen is an Associate Director and sustainability consultant with 28 years’ experience and Arup’s Net Zero Skills Leader. He specialises in the development of carbon and sustainability strategies for buildings, masterplans and portfolios across a range of sectors. He works with leading property firms including The Crown Estate, Stanhope plc and Derwent London. Stephen is passionate about the climate crisis and whether working on an individual building or across industry is a strong advocate for the property sector’s transition to Net Zero. He was involved in the development of NABERS in the UK, and is a member of the NABERS UK Independent Design Review panel. He coordinates Arup’s on-going input into the development of the Net Zero Carbon Building Standard. At a global level, Stephen has worked since 2023 with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, leading 3 collaborative publications in that time, focusing on the global transition to net zero for the built environment. He was honoured to be the CIBSE Building Performance Engineer of the Year in 2023.
