Managing Director, Vastern Timber
Tom Barnes is the managing Director and a fourth generation owner of Vastern Timber, a British hardwood sawmill based in Wiltshire. After leaving university, Tom joined Meyer (Now Saint Gobain) as a graduate trainee and then progressed to work for International Timber. Tom returned to his family business in 2001 and has worked in various areas of the business, culminating in the role of Managing Director in 2014. Over the last five years, Tom has focused on developing markets for British grown timber, which included creating Brimstone, the first range of thermally modified British grown hardwoods. Tom is currently producing a series of short films exploring the future of British forests.
