Valentina Marincioni

Technical Director , UK Centre for Moisture in Buildings

Dr Valentina Marincioni is Lecturer in Building Physics and Moisture at UCL and Technical Director of the UK Centre for Moisture in Buildings (UKCMB), a national centre that brings together academia, industry and government to improve the way moisture risk is understood and managed.
Her work focuses on building physics and moisture transfer in the building envelope, combining laboratory testing, in-situ monitoring, hygrothermal simulations and predictive modelling. At UCL’s hygrothermal laboratory in Here East, she leads research on moisture in buildings, retrofit solutions, bio-based insulation systems, façade design and performance, and the impacts of climate change on building performance.
Valentina contributes to national and international standards as chair of the BSI B/540/2 subcommittee on building performance - moisture, member of CB/401 on retrofitting for energy efficiency and B/540 on energy performance of materials, components and buildings, and contributor to BS 5250:2021 and the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA3 and CCRA4). She is also an active member of CIB W040 (Heat and Moisture Transfer in Buildings) and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Building Physics.
