When leading a Government/industry study into the decarbonisation of the built environment, I found discussions with the Edge were a rare example of hearing multi-disciplinary voices without those terrible twins vested interest and 'not invented here' being in the room. More than a decade later, the Edge is sticking to the task - a more acceptable face of activism, and in the end the kind that gets things done. Get involved.

Despairing of the silos in local government and between every built environment profession, I was thrilled to discover the Edge in the late 1990s. Ever since, the Edge has been my go-to place—a forum for challenging orthodoxies and bringing together practical thinkers to come up with integrated solutions for our built and natural environment. The Edge matters because its approach is systemic, reframing problems and solutions and then reframing them again from a range of perspectives and its voice is being heard.

Futurebuild allows the Edge to assemble three days of high-quality public discussions of key issues in the climate and biodiversity emergency with ministers, civil servants, and industry leaders as well as students and the wider public. The online webinars give the Edge a global audience.

We want a conference programme that continues to tackle some of the bigger picture issues that our industry needs to respond to. The collective understanding and experience that the Edge brings to curating this programme supports our aim of offering a knowledge programme by the industry for the industry.
