Beyond MMC: re-thinking the model to deliver net zero affordable housing – curated by BE-ST

The Edinburgh Home Demonstrator programme, backed by Scottish Government, is a unique partnership of research and development experts working together with industry to show how affordable net zero carbon housing can be created at scale across the six local authorities within the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Deal region.

The project is developing a new business model for the manufacture of affordable housing based on collaborative procurement, whole life costing, pipeline management and greater standardisation. It goes beyond using MMC as one part of the solution, by unlocking its potential through a demand-led approach and pushing the boundaries through innovation and transformation.

A key output of this project is to share learnings to advance the sector’s ability to meet net zero carbon goals, and so, as pilot one of three nears completion, this session will share the journey and findings of the project so far.

Chair: Sinclair Young, Senior Project Manager – Development & Regeneration, The City of Edinburgh Council
