Lighting, biophilia and controls – curated by Institution of Lighting Professionals

In this short session, James Poore, creative director of leading UK lighting design consultancy JPLD will look at why the right lighting is important, and how we are programmed to need the right lighting and why the wrong artificial lighting is so bad for not only our health and well being but also that of the flora and fauna and the world around us.

Picking up on the biophilia aspects from Oliver Heaths talk previously, looking at how biophilia relates to lighting and lighting design. What a biophilic approach means in terms of lighting and lighting design and why considering the principles should, coupled with considered design and specification, lead us to be more sustainable and more user centric and even adopt principles of circularity to reduce our impact on the planet and its finite resources.
