Dr Ceri Batchelder

Ceri leads the Retrofit Development Programme for the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, designed to inform the strategy for large-scale housing decarbonisation across the South Yorkshire region. Part of the Sustainability Team, Ceri works with local and national partners to shape suitable interventions. She brings her broad knowledge exchange and innovation experience to the role.

With a background in life sciences, Ceri was a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School before moving into knowledge transfer at the University of Manchester, biotech sales & marketing and then tech scouting for Smith & Nephew PLC. She applied this experience as director of a creative agency into developing their digital health focus.

More recently, running her own business Connect&Create, Ceri has delivered economic development activities in Yorkshire and supported digital economies in the UK and Europe, before operating as a regional connector to foster the tech startup ecosystem in South Yorkshire. During this time, Ceri was also a Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Sheffield, supporting staff and students in enterprise and business engagement, with an emphasis on digital projects and partnerships.
