The list of espoused saviours in our carbon reduction crusade continues. From “the market will respond” to “industry will develop the solutions”. The problem with ambiguously supporting innovation through broad funding streams, is that eager for the next fix the hype from the press and politicians creates false horizons, think carbon capture, green hydrogen and now AI. Of course these technologies need to be enabled, but, are these moves strategic, do they form part of a holistic plan to address climate change, recession, and make the planet and people healthier.
