Chancellor announces £39bn ‘social and affordable homes’ investment

Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced a £39bn Affordable Housing Programme, the largest investment in social and affordable homes in 50 years, alongside £10bn for housebuilding and a 10-year rent settlement. Developed with Angela Rayner, the plan offers long-term certainty for housing associations, praised by sector leaders as “transformational” for unlocking development, boosting investment, and supporting the Government’s target of delivering 1.5 million new homes over the next decade.
