Tackling the housing crisis

Tackling the housing crisis

Futurebuild 2019 will unite material manufacturers and suppliers to make a pioneering solution to solving the housing crisis a reality. Led by architect Bill Dunster OBE, the ZED project will enable sixth form students to learn vital construction skills while building affordable, energy-efficient, multi-occupancy homes. With space for up to 8 people, they are not only affordable but also exceed building regulations, are super insulated and have the potential of no net annual energy bills. A prototype will be displayed at Futurebuild at stand C52, before providing much needed housing for young people.

2019 Buildings Hub exhibitors include

Buildings Hub seminar programme

The review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety by Dame Judith Hackitt signals an imperative for change and improvement in the design and delivery of all buildings. In addition, there are the challenges of achieving zero carbon or, better, net positive and, of course, of closing the performance gap. These are responsibilities for all who work in the built environment.

The Buildings Hub seminar programme will focus on the latest thinking and initiatives in building quality and performance and occupier comfort. It will explore new tools, technologies and delivery approaches to improve both new and existing buildings.
