HRH Princess Royal visits award winning Worcester based GL

As a company, GL has a long association with The Princess Royal, having previously been awarded the Princess Royal Training Award in 2016. The visit marks the first time GL have been lucky to receive an in-person visit to our site.

We were delighted to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to GL on Monday 27th February.

During the afternoon, The Princess Royal toured our E-home and spoke to staff about the all-electric solutions on offer to help house builders achieve carbon neutral homes. Staff also spoke about their experiences working for the company, from our successful apprentices who started their careers with GL to working mothers benefiting from our flexible working policy.

E-home showcases a range of products to help housebuilders (and homeowners) achieve carbon neutral targets, including electric vehicle (EV) chargers, infrared heating technology and energy storage systems.

Anthony Ottway, MD of GL, said: “It was an absolute honour and privilege to welcome The Princess Royal to GL. Everyone was thrilled to be part of her visit. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet The Princess Royal on several occasions and just as I remembered she was very charming and interested in what we do.

“Having been awarded The Princess Royal Training Award several years ago, it was lovely to hear that she remembered us and was keen to learn more about how the company has developed since then.

Callum Whittall, Technical Manager of GL with HRH The Princess Royal
“She stayed with us for nearly an hour and spoke to every member of staff. She was especially fascinated in our technology and approach to helping the developer. She really seemed to understand the whole premise of E-home and how the products linked together to provide benefits for both the house builder and homeowner.”

The visit also provided an opportunity for us to highlight our flexible working policy, which encourages staff with other responsibilities, such as working mothers to progress in their careers.
