When you think of an art project, a low carbon home heating alternative is not the first thing that may come to mind. However, the artistry of the planet that we aim to maintain, the craftsmanship of designing a renewably powered heater that will warm homes for many generations and the vision of a greener future is what has made this product so aptly named the Bosch ART Project -CS5800iAWR.
At the product’s centre is functionality – high temperature heating, low noise levels and an easy installation process. It was developed in conjunction with several universities and developers across the Netherlands and Germany who focused on finding solutions for concerns that were being regularly reported by house dwellers. These included not having the space, being apprehensive of noise levels and installation issues.
The ambition in the UK is to work with new build housing developers who look to heat their homes with greener energy while optimising space. There is also a structural benefit as it equips new builds to be zero carbon ready to meet the Future Homes Standard from 2025 onwards. The requirement that new build properties need to reduce their CO2 emissions by 70-80% compared to the current standards is one which we believe the ART project will provide a solution for.
One of its unique selling points is that it doesn’t encroach on internal or external living space. This allows for the same quality heat pump being able to accommodate all dwelling types.
The ambition is for a roof mounted heat pump to be as common a fixture as a chimney but without the harmful emissions. The best way to change people’s behaviour is to make the transition appear seamless and we feel that with our out of sight design, this will do exactly that.
Its aesthetic takes great inspiration from the principle of what looks good makes us feel good. Having a sleek heat pump that is easy on the eye and does not disrupt our sight line of our picture-perfect homes and the wonderful scenery around us.
