Plastic materials are more and more replacing metal pipes and fittings in domestic plumbing and heating systems worldwide. In the last 30 years, pressure piping systems made of Polypropylene Random Copolymers (PP-R) have been selected and appreciated by the Plumbing Industry. We have recently assisted to an evolution of the system components but PP-R basically remained the same of the early ‘80s. A few years ago a new PP-R grade appeared on the scene: PP-RCT to which β-PPR belongs. A new generation of materials using a special β-nucleation process. The new formulation and production process of PP-RCT allow pipes produced with this material to perform at higher stress conditions and high temperatures.
