The Roadmap to 2030 – how the UK is transforming the delivery of social infrastructure

01 March / 12.15 - 13.00

In September 2021 the Infrastructure and Projects Authority published their ‘Transforming Infrastructure Performance: Roadmap to 2030’ which describes the adoption of a platform approach (adoption of common, cross-sector, manufactured components) in the delivery of social infrastructure, including a planned mandate to be established within two years.

This will have a dramatic impact on the way we design, procure, deliver and operate our built environment and will unlock advanced digital workflows, adoption of automation and new commercial models.

While potential cost, productivity and sustainability benefits are huge this approach will require the industry to move beyond traditional projects, programmes or even sectors to adopt more open and collaborative ways of working.

This talk will cover:

  • What are platforms and why is the IPA adopting them?
  • How cross-departmental data analysis and visualisation are revealing the kits of parts
  • Case studies and current adoption
  • What the future might look like
