Optimisation and Decarbonisation of Heat Networks

01 March / 14.15 - 15.10

In this session we will hear from 3 UKDEA Members whose expertise lies in providing products and alternative heat sources that are designed to optimise networks, save money and reduce the carbon footprint of District Heating Schemes across the UK.

Panel overview:

Chair: Tom Woodward, Association Secretary, UKDEA

Aquatherm: Aquatherm TI – An alternative piping material for district energy schemes

This talk looks at the advantages of using Aquatherm’s pre-insulated polypropylene pipes as an alternative to traditional metal materials in transporting heating and cooling water safely and efficiently over longer distances.

Ashley Westman, Products & Services Manager, Aquatherm

Ranheat: What does Industrial Wood Waste Offer to the District Heating Energy Mix?

This presentation will explain the differences between Industrial Wood Waste, Pellets and Wood Chip, exploring why Industrial Wood Waste has a lower Primary Energy Factor than other biomass. Learn more about what scales work and how to integrate into existing Energy Centres

Alexander Franklin, Director, Ranheat

GEA: Decarbonisation of energy network with High temperature industrial heat pumps

Through case studies learn how high efficiency industrial heat pumps delivering up to 95˚C are helping decarbonise the UK energy network. Explore Bunhill  (1MW), Gateshead (6MW) and Swaffham (2MW) which use 3 different heat sources (mine water, underground tube ventilation air and ambient air).

Kenneth Hoffmann, Product manager heat pumps, GEA
