Our Scrap Buyers are key members of our commercial team. Not only do they source and buy the material into CELSA, they also sell and promote the services that we provide. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a passion for generating new business, improving profitability and growing CELSA Recycling through the nurture and retention of our existing customers. You’ll spend a lot of time on the road, visiting and sourcing suppliers covering the areas of North East, Yorkshire & Northwest of the UK.

– Sourcing scrap metal from a wide range of suppliers, sectors and industry groups
– Grading and pricing ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as other recyclable materials.
– Providing creative solutions to customer’s individual needs, utilising CELSA’s extensive network of transport and processing capabilities.
– Growing the business and identifying new opportunities in advance of the competition.
– Generating new business to achieve financial growth, improved efficiency and performance.
– Building, maintaining and managing supplier relationships and keeping up excellent communications.
– Negotiating contracts, improving prices and terms of business with suppliers, and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
– Providing support to other Commercial buyers maintaining and gaining new business.
– Purchasing material, in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets. Utilising good knowledge of changing market dynamics to ensure that material can be efficiently processed to offer best value to customers.
– Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing, processes as well as new projects and activities.
– Work closely with others in the recycling division and review opportunities for continuous business improvements
– Support the overall buying & selling strategy of the recycling division.

You’ll be a go-getter, someone who’s always on the go and motivates themselves. You’ll need to think on your feet and make decisions independently, making sure that the numbers add up. Of course our preference is that you’ll have experience or knowledge of scrap metal (ideally ferrous and non-ferrous). What’s equally important is how well you can influence suppliers to sell to us.
