CPV Ltd, the UK’s longest-serving manufacturer of pre-insulated pipe systems for heating and cooling networks is celebrating, having reached the forty-year anniversary since production started back in 1983.

Being one of the pioneers of polymer pipe extrusion in the late 1940s when the company was founded, the production of pre-insulated pipe was an obvious addition to the business and helped satisfy a growing demand for heat networks at that time.

Historic installation of Hiline pipe system black and white photoWhen its Hiline bonded pre-insulated pipe system was launched in 1983, third generation heat networks were still the dominant concept – with higher flow temperatures that needed to be contained within steel or copper service pipes.

Mark Whettall, managing director explained: “Although we started off using steel and copper as our main service pipe options, with our background being firmly rooted in the advancement of polymer pipe technologies, we recognised that polymer service pipes could offer a number of benefits.”

“With the subsequent move to fourth generation heat networks and utilisation of low-carbon heat sources, flow temperatures have reduced and this has enabled our advanced polymer technologies to safely satisfy the requirement for high-performance heat networks with zero risk of corrosion that is often associated with steel.”

Whilst the company’s current range of pre-insulated pipes still includes the traditional steel solutions, it has expanded to encompass advanced polymers and composites that offer significant benefits to system efficiency and the cost of installation.

Hiline Clover Pipe system In the spring of 2023, the company unveiled its very latest pre-insulated pipe system called Hiline Clover which has taken the polymer pipe concept even further and introduces enhanced performance and further reductions in the cost of on-site installation.
