CABE is pleased to announce that the Engineering Council has formally recognised the CABE Building Inspector Competency Assessment Scheme (CBICAS) as an Engineering Council Approved Standard.
This independent approval provides formal recognition of the scheme, acknowledging the high and comprehensive standard of our processes and governance.
The review also formally recognises that the schemes criteria align with the requirements of Engineering Council UK-SPEC 4. This means that applicants can choose to register as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with the Engineering Council on successful completion of the assessment process.
As part of the Engineering Council’s review, it has been agreed that the two stage Technical Report/Professional Review Interview can be streamlined into one single stage interview.
Applicants will now only have to sit one 60–90-minute interview significantly simplifying the interview process for both candidates and assessors.
This independent accreditation from the Engineering Council acknowledges the rigorous standards that CABE has introduced within CBICAS. Our scheme allows building control professionals to demonstrate their competence, become a member, (or upgrade their membership) and become eligible for Engineering Council registration all in a single process. This allows us to support everyone in the building inspector professional who wants to use the CBICAS in their journey to register with the BSR.
