Representatives from a world-renowned Austrian international summer university, which looks at passive housing and sustainable construction, are heading to Futurebuild.

Green.Building.Solutions. (GBS) attracts built-environment students and professionals from across the globe who are looking to acquire in-depth expertise in sustainable construction and passive housing.

Over three weeks, participants receive first class teaching from notable academic and industry leaders, and the opportunity to explore Vienna.

This year’s GBS takes place from 13 July to 4 August, 2024. Previous alumni from the UK include students from Salford University and the University of Nottingham.

Günther Jedliczka, CEO of OeAD student housing, which organises GBS, said: “Our programme, now in its 14th year, gives future architects, planners and engineers a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge in passive house planning, sustainable urban development, new energy technologies, innovative architecture and ecological design.

“Austria is at the forefront of passive house design and GBS allows students to really take in this knowledge about green buildings and sustainability, and even see it in real life using Vienna as a living case study.

Part of Austria’s OeAD Agency for Education and Internationalisation, OeAD student housing operates GBS under a not-for-profit arrangement. The programme also has the support of over 60 international partners.

As well as GBS, OeAD student housing also runs the Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems (AEMS) summer university which will take place in Vienna from 15 July to 2 August. More at https://www.oeadstudenthousing.at/en/summer-universities/aems/
