The Welsh Government has Approved CABE’s Building Inspector Competence Assessment Scheme for the Registration of Building Control Professionals in Wales.

CABE’s Building Inspector Competence Assessment Scheme (CBICAS), approved by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) for the registration of Building Inspectors, has been verified by the Welsh Government as a competence assessment scheme for building control professionals in Wales.

Following the verification of the scheme’s acceptance, CABE is now able to offer Building Inspectors access to CBICAS ahead of registration opening in Wales. This allows interested professionals to gain the required evidence to register with the Building Safety Regulator alongside their colleagues in England.

The scheme follows three key stages:

1. an application and career portfolio submission
2. submission of technical report and competence statements; and
3. a two-part technical report and professional review interview.

Gavin Dunn, CEO of CABE “CABE puts competence at the heart of everything. The Welsh Government’s approval for our Building Inspector Competence Assessment Scheme will allow Building Inspectors in England and Wales to demonstrate their competence, allowing them to work on either side of the border without the need for additional assessment”.
