Dr Colum McCague, Technical Manager, MPA Cement
Colum is Technical Manager at the Mineral Products Association. His research interests include: materials testing/characterisation, optimisation, concrete durability and standards development. Prior to joining MPA, Colum was a postdoctoral researcher at City, University of London, where he worked with industry to develop a novel low energy heat curing process for precast concrete products. He received the MEng degree in structural engineering and the Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from Queen’s University Belfast in 2009 and in 2015, respectively. His Ph.D. was focused on the development of cementitious grouts for the safe immobilisation of nuclear wastes. Colum is UK expert on several standards committees relating to cement and concrete product standardisation.
