Helen McGarry, Expedition

Helen is a Senior Engineer at Expedition Engineering Ltd. With a focus on concrete construction, she supports teams delivering low carbon innovation consultancy to UK clients and contractors on a portfolio of projects. She co-authored a paper published by the Institute of Concrete Technologists, entitled “Delivering Low Carbon Concrete for Network Rail”, and has presented as part of the IStructE’s Novel Materials Webinar Series – Low carbon concrete webinar. Helen is motivated by being challenged and engaged in the design, specification and construction of physical things that are useful, worthwhile and which positively enhance the built environment and society. She recently concluded a study with two concrete contractors to assess their use of concrete against the LCCG benchmark and she is currently developing the Carbon Measuring Assessment and Reporting tool for Concrete Zero on behalf of Amcrete UK, contributing to the rapid decarbonisation needed in the concrete industry.
